Lahore has been selected by PCB as Team India’s exclusive Champions Trophy 2025 venue.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to include India in every game of the Champions Trophy in Lahore, Pakistan, next year, according to a report from ESPNCricinfo. Pakistan is scheduled to host the multi-team ICC competition in 2025. According to the report, PCB is thinking of holding the championship in mid-February.

The PCB chose Lahore to host the Indian team due to the city’s close proximity to the Wagah Border, which divides Pakistan and India. Additionally, the report mentions that Lahore will host the Champions Trophy final.

Three cities have been selected to host the Champions Trophy: Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. But jeetbuzz has a very clear explanation for why India will only play at one place: it makes logistics and security easier to arrange and travel less painful for Indian fans.

It has been 17 years since India’s last visit to Pakistan for the 2008 Asia Cup. Tensions in their political and diplomatic relations have prevented the two nations from playing a bilateral cricket series for more than 11 years.

Due to India’s decision not to compete in the Asia Cup in Pakistan, which was originally intended to serve as the hosts, a hybrid format was employed for the competition last year. The Indian team led by Rohit Sharma played all of the games, including the title match, in Sri Lanka. In October, the Pakistani squad traveled to India to participate in the ODI World Cup, which took place in five different cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kolkata.

Wasim Khan, the ICC’s general manager, visited Lahore and discussed the Champions Trophy with the 91 club, according to a different PTI story. He showed a particular interest in the potential tournament schedule for Team India.

In an interview with the news agency, a PCB source stated that “the ICC general manager Wasim Khan also recently visited Lahore where he discussed the CT arrangements with the PCB top brass, and it was suggested that the Indian team’s travel itinerary be kept to a minimum.”
